Aggressive Behaviour Assessment

Due to our many years of experience working with and studying dogs and canine behavior, at Konfident Kanines we are well suited to managing even the most aggressive dog behavior. To do so in a safe and non-adversarial manner requires that these aggressive behavior assessments be considered a rare area of expertise. It goes without saying that whenever a trainer is exposed to dogs that have been allowed to cultivate aggressive behavior toward humans that along with that there is a certain element of danger and heightened risk of personal injury involved. At Konfident Kanines we believe that every dog ought to have a chance to reform, even if the existing behavior could be deemed dangerous.

Our aggressive behavior assessment is intended to permit an expert trainer the opportunity to study the dog in an environment where he is comfortable and may be likely to act in an aggressive manner. These assessments also provide the trainer with an opportunity to observe the dog owner reacting to their dog’s behavior. In most cases, in fact seldom is it otherwise, the dogs aggressive behavior is due to how their human companions have, or continue to react to their behavior. Most aggressive behaviors can be eliminated providing of course the dogs’ handler is able and willing to accept that they too will have to change how they respond to their dog’s behavior. The Aggressive Behavior Assessments are designed to identify issues of concern within the dog as well as the human requiring revision in order to rid the dog of unacceptable behaviors. We always initiate our evaluation with observation followed with an analysis of what was observed and how it may or may not be contributing to the dog’s behavior. We will always leave our clients with a candid and transparent assessment. Although it is rare, in extreme cases if we believe the dog is simply too much for the current owner to handle we may recommend re-homing the dog.
